Import a Library from a Previous Version<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To import a library from Snagit 2022 and later, see Merge Libraries<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

\nWindows – Import from Snagit 2021 and earlier<\/strong><\/summary>\n

To import a library from Snagit 2021 and earlier to Snagit 2022 and later, complete the following steps:<\/p>\n

  1. In the older version of Snagit Editor, select Edit menu > Editor Preferences > Library tab<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Click Create Backup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Select a location to save the .snagarchive backup file and click Save<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  4. In the newer version of Snagit Editor, select Edit menu > Editor Preferences > Library tab<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  5. Click Import Backup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  6. Navigate to and select the .snagarchive backup file. Click Open<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

    To import a library from another version of Snagit:<\/p>\n

    1. In the older version of Snagit, select Snagit menu > Settings > Advanced tab<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    2. Note the location of the Autosaved Captures folder.

    3. In the newer version of Snagit, select Snagit menu > Settings > Advanced tab<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    4. Click Choose<\/strong>.

    5. In the Choose Location dialog, click Browse other<\/strong>.
      \"Browse<\/li>\n
    6. Navigate to and select the older Snagit library, and click Open<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    7. In the Choose Location dialog, click Save<\/strong>.

      Snagit merges the current library into the old library. To move the library back to the desired location:<\/p>\n

      1. On the Advanced Preferences tab, click Choose<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      2. In the Choose Location dialog, click Browse other<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      3. Navigate to and select the desired location and click Open<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      4. In the Choose Location dialog, click Save<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

        Move a Library From One Computer to Another<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
        \nWindows – Snagit 2022 and later<\/strong><\/summary>\n

        To move a library from Snagit 2022 and later, complete the following steps<\/p>\n

        1. In Snagit Editor on the old computer, select Edit menu > Editor Preferences > Library tab<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        2. Hover your cursor over Choose location<\/strong> to view and note the location of your Snagit Library.

        3. In File Explorer, navigate to the location of your Snagit library.

        4. Create a copy of the Snagit library folder and transfer the copy to your new computer.<\/li>\n
        5. In Snagit Editor on the new computer, select Edit menu > Editor Preferences > Library tab<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        6. Click Choose location<\/strong>.

        7. In the Choose location dialog, click Browse other<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        8. Navigate to and select the Snagit folder copied from the old computer.<\/li>\n
        9. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n
          \nWindows – Snagit 2021 and earlier<\/strong><\/summary>\n

          To move a library from Snagit 2021 and earlier, back up and restore or import the library on the new computer.<\/p>\n

          IMPORTANT<\/strong>
          For Snagit 2021 and earlier, restoring a backup overwrites the existing library with the backup file. Do not attempt to import a backup file if the Snagit library on the new computer has captures that you want to keep.<\/div>\n

          Create a backup on the old computer:<\/p>\n

          1. Complete one of the following in Snagit Editor, depending on your version:\n
